A MOTOR-MOUTH Coronation Street star from Grimsby will unveil a new-look bank in Immingham next week. Lisa George, who currently plays Beth Tinker in the soap, will be guest of honour at the unveiling of Lloyds TSB in Kennedy Way, Immingham, on Wednesday, April 24. The actress, whose parents live in Cleethorpes, has been playing the brash and flirty Beth on our screens for over a year. Lisa grew up in Grimsby and featured in Casualty, Holby City, Emmerdale and four different roles in Coronation Street before landing the role of Beth, for which she was nominated as Best Newcomer in 2012 at TV Choice Awards. And the bank hopes she will be bringing a little of that star quality to the opening, which will take place at 9.45am. Lisa first appeared in the ITV soap back in 2007 as Jacqui, a family liaison officer working on the murder of Tommy Harris. She had also appeared as an unnamed nurse, a colleague of Martin Platt, in 1997.
Fact File on Beth Tinker, played by Lisa George: Occupation: Factory machinist Born: 21st November 1974 Residence: 14a Victoria Street Children: Craig Tinker First appearance: 5th August 2011 Duration: 2011 to present Number of appearances: 148 (as of episode 8093)
Lisa's character, Beth, was originally introduced for a two-episode stint in August 2011, but after becoming popular was brought back at the end of the year for a regular role. Lisa said: "Beth is really good fun to play, she is outspoken and so naughty – the opposite of me really. "I wouldn't be as brave as her. She is such a flirt with every bloke. "My mum and dad are really proud of me. Dad records every episode I'm in – he wasn't a Coronation Street fan until I was in it!" Lisa will unveil the changes to the bank which include the addition of an external ATM machine. Bank manager Andy Knight said: "We are really excited about Lisa opening the bank and we hope she will draw in the crowds on the day because it is a big event. "We would like to say a big thank you to all of our customers and hope they are delighted with the improvements that the new branch will bring to the community. "We look forward to helping the customers we have in Immingham and new customers and business over the coming months."
