CHARITY runners are gearing up for the annual Humberston Fun Run.
Organised by the Humberston Lions Club, the event takes place on Sunday, May 5 and there's still time to secure your place at the start line.
The race is open to all ages and abilities, and people are encouraged to take part in fancy dress.
Runners will negotiate a three-mile circular course around the village, starting at the Humberston Academy, and a shorter course will be provided for disabled participants.
Medals will be awarded to all finishers, and there is a £50 prize for the organisation with the most entries. Proceeds from the event will be used by the Lions to support worthy causes in the local area.
The race is being sponsored by the Grimsby Telegraph, Elite Windows, David Wise Motors and Smart Kitchens.
Cadets from the Grimsby Air Training Corps (ATC) squadron will once again be marshalling the event.
Event organiser Martin Allingham, of the Humberston Lions, which took over the running of the event six years ago, said: "It is probably the biggest event in Humberston in terms of the number of people that take part and the area it covers.
"It is a fantastic community event, and it is very rewarding to see so many people coming out of their houses along the route to clap and cheer the runners as they go past.
"The race is open to all ages and abilities. We have fast runners and some joggers, and some even come in fancy dress.
"We also have participants from the North East Lincolnshire Disability Sports Forum and the event is always a highlight.
"We are grateful to our sponsors and also the cadets who marshal the course."
The race gets underway at Humberston Academy at 10.30am. Entries are accepted up until 10.15am on the day.
The fee for entries received before Wednesday, May 1 is £4 for adults and £2 for under-14s. After May 1 the entry fee is £5 for adults and £3 under-14s. Under-5s can take part for free.
