SHOPPING locally this Christmas should be in the forefront of everyone's minds.
There are so many temptations to take us away from our local high streets.
The internet is perceived as quick and easy, although the truth can sometimes be a long way removed from that.
And then there is the obvious lure of the massive Meadowhall centres of this nation – which are the ultimate shopping experience in the minds of some.
However we should not let such temptations take us away from the stores that are on our doorstep – if you take the time to look, there is very little you will be unable to find as the variety and choice is there.
These stores will also accommodate requests, and often order things for you if they are not immediately available.
Even if you are shopping at the chain stores locally, that will still help our local economy as people from the area are employed by them – so again, make that effort as opposed to logging on and ordering over the internet.
The power of the purse is enormous at this time of the year and can give the local economy a massive boost.
Many people are still short of cash and will not be spending as much money as they usually do on the festive season.
So that means it is even more vital that people do make a conscious choice to spend their money with those who can make a difference to our local economy.
