THE public are being urged to have their say on a plan to build 95 new homes in Waltham.
A consultation is being held to gather the views of residents before a formal planning application is lodged with North East Lincolnshire Council.
The development is for land off Cheapside, near Waltham Windmill Golf Club, in a partnership between local house-builders Carr and Carr and M F Strawson Ltd, as reported.
It represents the largest single new development in the village for more than 15 years.
On Saturday, April 27, a public consultation is being held in the meeting room at Waltham Library between 10am and 1.30pm, where the developers will be on hand to answer questions.
They said the plan "signifies the confidence of both companies with the local housing market to make this commitment to a scheme of this size".
Chris Carr, from the building firm, said: "The aim is to ensure a quality scheme reflecting the character of the village and the semi-rural location of the site.
"Before submitting an application we want to hear the views of local people to ensure that we have the best possible scheme for this location.
"We are encouraging people to drop into the library so that we can fully explain the scheme to them and would be happy to listen to their comments."
The site has been identified as being appropriate for development through the Local Plan and a land availability assessment carried out by the council.
The scheme has already been subject to detailed negotiations with the council regarding technical considerations.
As reported, it has already attracted criticism from the Save Our Field campaign group.
Meanwhile, Carr and Carr is waiting to start work on a 200-home development, on land off Louth Road Roundabout and plans are progressing on an "urban extension" earmarked for 1,500 homes to be built at Weelsby Hall Farm.
