A FIGHTING technique used by Hollywood stars such as Tom Cruise, Liam Neeson and Christian Bale has been shipped across the Atlantic – to Grimsby.
The Keysi Fighting Method (KFM), which has been used in films such as The Dark Knight, Troy and Clash Of The Titans, is now being taught at Primal Gym, on the Nunsthorpe Estate.
The gym was featured on the ITV documentary Exposure: Driven From Home, highlighted as one of the many positive projects on the estate.
Keysi is a form of street self-defence which teaches people how to fend off one or multiple attackers, while improving their fitness.
James Breakspeare, head coach of KFM Grimsby, said: "Keysi is a cultivation of the human instinct and is an evolution of what we do naturally.
"It is an art form dedicated towards the study and investigation of survival of the modern day streets.
"Because the streets are in a constant state of evolution, so must we."
Student Daniel Preston, from Grimsby, is one of those who has signed up for the new classes.
He said: "I'm getting fitter in a fun way while learning effective self defence. Everyone can do it and I'd definitely recommend it."
Ally McMahon, owner of Primal Gym, said: "We are collecting a large pool of knowledge thanks to the various coaches we now have working with us. We are delighted to have James on board.
"The gym is thriving and we have everything from circuit training and children's street survival to women's body conditioning and Mixed Martial Arts."
