GRIMSBY Town director John Fenty has thanked the fans for making the Mariners' Wembley weekend so special.
Despite the result in the capital, Mr Fenty said the club's appearance at the home of football was a 'proud day' for the town.
Fenty was in the thick of the action when hundreds of Mariners fans gathered in Trafalgar Square to celebrate the day before the final.
And he said that was just one of many highlights on a memorable weekend for the club.
Mr Fenty told the Telegraph; "I would like to go on record thanking the fans, the players and of course the management team for providing us with a great day out at Wembley.
"Whilst it was disappointing that we didn't bring home the trophy I think all concerned would have enjoyed the day and the experience.
"It was a proud day for the town for us to be able to get into the final of the FA Trophy.
"The number of fans that came together at Trafalgar Square in horrendous, blizzard-type conditions, was absolutely fantastic.
"It was a great day out and I thank everybody for their support, for getting behind the football club."
He added: "I now hope we at least seal a place in the play-offs and get out of this division which is the be-all and end-all, and I hope we can rely on the fans' support through these last few home games of the season."
