ARMED police this morning closed off a section of Laceby Road and surrounded a house down there.
There were two ambulances in attendance and five police cars.
Police confirmed they were called at 9.29am "following a concern for the safety of a man at an address on Laceby Road in Grimsby."
A spokeswoman said officers were called to the address by the ambulance service after the man refused to attend hospital for treatment.
He was taken to hospital where he is currently in a critical condition.
Specially trained armed response officers were called to the address to assist with the incident.
Police closed Second Avenue to Laceby Road as a precaution but it has now reopened.
