"MICHAEL – if you see this, please make contact with somebody – friends, family, the police, anyone – just to let us know that you are safe."

An emotional appeal has been made by the family of Grimsby businessman Michael Lee, two years since he disappeared without trace.

The 75-year-old former Lees Furnishers director was reported missing on March 16, 2011, having not been in contact with loved ones for ten days.

There have been no positive sightings of Mr Lee, or his blue Mercedes C220, which had the registration number KO04 HTP. It is thought he took with him, since – leaving his family in "limbo".

It is not even known what he was wearing, and police have said his disappearance was – and still remains – very out of character.

Older brother John, 83, has today renewed the appeal for Mr Lee to get in touch, or for anyone who thinks they may have any information to come forward.

"We have now had two years as a family without any contact from Michael and it gets harder every day, wondering what might have happened to him and if he is safe," he said.

"There is not a day goes by when we don't think about him.

"The family are all in complete limbo. This really is out of character for Michael and we don't know why he would want to leave his life in Grimsby with all his friends and family.

"We would like some answers. So, please, anyone who may have seen Michael or think they know where he is call the police.

"No matter how big or small that bit of information might be, then just tell police. It could lead us to find out where he is and help us put our minds at rest."

On the morning of March 6, 2011, Me Lee called his sister-in-law and his newsagent to cancel his papers and also cancelled a hair appointment. Those were the last calls made from his landline at home.

The police investigation remains active.

If you can help, call 101, quoting log 217 of March 16, 2011.
