NEARLY 13,500 tickets have been snapped up by Grimsby Town fans ahead of next Sunday's FA Trophy final against Wrexham.
With just eight days to go until the Wembley showpiece, Mariners supporters are being encouraged to get behind the boys and secure their seat.
Combined sales have already have passed the 30,000 mark – but Town accounts manager Steve Wraith believes that number could dramatically increase before March 24.
He said: "We are delighted with how things have gone so far – the sales have slowed down a little in the last few days, but we are expecting a busy final week.
"Our eye is on a 40,000 plus crowd. It would be fantastic if, between us, we can get close to that mark. At this moment in time we are doing really well.
"Losing two games on the bounce has slightly affected our sales. But, if we get a win against Cambridge today then people will start to feel positive again – and that will be a massive boost to us.
"We are in the top five in the league. Even at 16,000 it will still be four times the number of fans that come to regular matches – and that is a tremendous feat from people in the town and our surrounding area.
"There are people coming from America, Europe and all four corners of the globe. It just shows how wide our following is. We want to get the backing our team deserves."
Tickets for the Mariners' fourth trip to Wembley are available until 5pm next Friday. Call the club on (01472) 605050 to reserve your seat.
