THE FIFTH Humberside Police Night Challenge was no blackout.
A total of 130 intrepid 13 to 17-year-olds from across the region took part in an outdoor pursuit held at twilight.
The challenge included a 11.5 mile hike over challenging terrain which took six hours to complete.
Along the way teams came across six challenges, ranging from plotting their route, creating structures, facing a mock crime scene, to securing a team member on a stretcher with the assistance of the Coastguard.
More than 100 police and fire service staff, along with members from our key partner agencies gave up their time to make the event a reality and without their support the challenge wouldn't have been the success
Organiser, Superintendent Samantha Manning, head of the community safety unit, said: "The night challenge is absolutely fantastic, all of the months of intricate planning and organisation that has gone into the event have paid off.
"The energy of the young people taking part and the enthusiasm of all of the partners involved, who can experience first-hand the sheer pleasure of the young people facing the challenge six to seven hours later arriving back at Base Camp on a natural "high" from the true sense of achievement after completing the challenge.
The teams from North East Lincolnshire were: Cleethorpes Warriors, Northern Lights, Diamond Dash, Crystal Maze, Foresight Troopers and the Humberston Hikers.
Teams will now have to wait until Tuesday April 9, when they attend the Humberside Police Night Challenge Awards to find out which teams excelled.
They will be presented with prizes, which range from a day trip to Alton Towers to glider flights. The overall champions will be awarded a weekend adventure in the Lake District.

Having originated as 'Nite Pilot in the 80's, The High Sheriffs' and Humberside Police Tribune Trust reintroduced the Night Challenge in 2007, whilst remaining principal supporters of the event; Night Challenge has now been included within the remit of the Humberside Police Community Safety Unit's Youth Engagement Team, who are responsible for bringing the highly successful Lifestyle and Rock Challenge youth initiatives to the force. The Night Challenge now adds a third dimension to the youth engagement portfolio offering young people a real sense of adventure and to learn to respect others and the countryside. Night Challenge is planned in association with the Humberside Police Community Safety Unit's Youth Engagement Team, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, Humberside Police Scenes of Crime Unit, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the Environment Agency, YALSAR, Houlton's Building and Contractors and HALO. Our overall aim is to encourage young people to work together as a team, in challenging conditions throughout the night in the countryside whilst attempting mental and physical tasks needing each team member to remain focussed whilst using a wide variety of skills in difficult and unusual circumstances. As well as receiving basic map reading and navigation training each team will be accompanied by a walking supervisor, who are volunteers from both Humberside Police and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, who will advise and support if needed should any difficulties arise. For many of the youngsters, it is the first time the have experienced they have experienced the countryside.
