A HEADTEACHER in Caistor has dismissed claims made by a local paper that two schools could merge as "pure speculation".
A Market Rasen paper has claimed that Caistor Yarborough Academy and Caistor Grammar could merge in two years if a Government proposal to simplify funding grants is passed in two years.
However, Roger Hale, headteacher at Caistor Grammar, which is consistently the top performing school and sixth form in Lincolnshire, has dismissed the story as "totally erroneous".
Mr Hale, who was surprised by the claim, added: "There is absolutely no truth in any suggestion that Lincolnshire County Council or anyone else have any plans to discuss school closures or mergers."
