The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Although their immediate concern is for problems caused by existing snow turning to ice, as temperatures continue to remain low, further heavy snow is expected in the Grimsby area from 9pm today.
It is thought the snow fall will continue throughout the night, though it is hoped it will turn to sleet on Monday.
Throughout the weekend, North East Lincolnshire Council's gritting teams have been assessing the condition of roads across the area, undertaking runs on the borough's secondary and main routes as required.
Pedestrian areas in Grimsby's Top Town and Freeman Street - as well as St Peter's Avenue, Cleethorpes - have also been treated by the council's fleet of quads and mini-gritting units.
Humberside Airport is not reporting that any runways have been closed. However, airport chiefs are advising passengers due to fly today to contact their airline before setting out - and to allow extra time to get there.
At Leeds Bradford airport, the adverse weather is causing disruption to some flights and, again, passengers are advised to contacted their airline before setting off.
