YOU'RE never too young to be a winner in our Junior Camera Club.
Last year we launched the Grimsby Telegraph's Camera Club, along with Comley Cameras, to find the best photos taken by local people.
It has been one of our most successful competitions, with hundreds of people sending us stunning shots.
Every month, we print the winner's picture and give them a large canvas of their photo.
We are now launching the Junior Camera Club for young people.
We visited Bursar Primary Academy to ask Year 6 pupils if they would take part – and the answer was "yes!".
Torena Baxter, 11, said: "I love taking photos of my family and always borrow my mum's camera.
"When I'm older, I want it to be my job and I hope I can get one of my pictures in the paper – maybe it will help me in the future."
Budding archaeologist Sam Hawley, 10, said: "I'm definitely going to enter – I like taking funny pictures.
"I used to take pictures of our dogs with my sister's hair bands on and I might send in one of those."
It seems that animals are a popular theme. Sky Taylor, 11, said: "I've got pet ferrets so I might take some photos of them.
"I would love to win a canvas – my mum would be really proud and put it on the wall."
Paul Burgess, manager of sponsor Comley, on St Peter's Avenue, Cleethorpes, will be judging the entries.
He said: "Kids are imaginative and aren't held back by anything, so I think we will get a real variety of pictures and I'm looking forward to seeing them.
"We are a local shop and these young people will be our customers of the future, so we want to do whatever we can to encourage their development and I can't wait to see what talent is out there."
Laura Coates, assistant headteacher at Bursar Primary Academy, said: "The children absolutely love the idea and when I first mentioned it, they couldn't wait to bring in their best photos and talk about their ideas.
"We have iPods at school and some have phones or cameras at home, so most already like taking photos and they've got boundless enthusiasm."
The competition is open to anyone 16 years old or under – the original adult Camera Club continues to run for older entrants – and pictures must be taken locally.
To enter either Camera Club, e-mail a high resolution image – big enough to be used on a large canvas print – to pictures@grimsbytelegraph.co.uk, with your name, address and, for junior entrants, your school, attached.
Those entering the adult club should include a contact number where possible.
