"SHE was someone we all trusted and relied upon and was totally dedicated."

Those were the moving words in tribute to Cleethorpes woman, Lynne Dring, who died following a collision with a car while crossing the road at Hewitts Circus.

Mrs Dring, 52, was the business director at Humberston Academy.

She was a wife and mother and died in Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital following the collision at shortly after 5pm on Wednesday.

The principal of the academy, Brian Sarahan said Mrs Dring was a much-loved and valued colleague and friend.

Lynne joined the Humberston Avenue School 12 years ago as personal assistant to the headteacher before being promoted to her latest role.

On behalf of the academy, Mr Sarahan said: "Lynne was a much-loved and valued colleague and friend.

"We are all devastated and deeply saddened by her tragic loss.

"She was an incredibly popular member of the team. She had a bright, positive attitude and managed a challenging role with great efficiency, effectiveness and a sense of humour."

The principal added: "She was pivotal in the smooth running of the academy and somebody we all trusted and relied upon. She was dedicated to her work and nothing was too much trouble.

"Her colleagues and students who knew her are stunned by this dreadful news. We are a close knit school and the sense of loss is great but everybody is supporting each other.

"Our thoughts are with her husband, her children and other close family and friends at this distressing time."

Mr Sarahan said the school will close on the day of Mrs Dring's funeral as a mark of respect and for colleagues to attend the service.

An announcement has yet to be made about the date and venue for the funeral.

Humberside Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the crash which happened on the Taylor's Avenue approach to Hewitts Circus roundabout.

Mrs Dring was in collision with a blue Volkswagen Golf driven by a 20-year-old Cleethorpes man.

The driver of the Golf was uninjured.

A police spokeswoman said: "Officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision and ask any witnesses who saw the vehicle or the pedestrian immediately prior to or at the time of the collision to contact Humberside Police."

Witnesses can call police on the non emergency number 101 quoting log 467 of January 9.
