BOSSES at Bluestar Fibres in Grimsby are working with experts to cut costs at the troubled factory. During a Great Coates Parish Council, Councillor Kevin Redgrift described staff morale as "low" because of the site's "uncertain future". Mr Redgrift attended a Liaison Panel Meeting with the businesses surrounding Great Coates where he was told Bluestar morale was low because they were "facing an uncertain future". Chief executive David Service said the factory had a difficult time following the takeover by Chinese company Chem China last year, but stressed there were no plans to close the Moody Lane, Great Coates, site or cut jobs there. They are working with Elkem, a multi-billion pound Norwegian company owned by Chem China, to drive the business forward. He said: "We are constantly looking at our business and how we can improve it with the assistance of Elkem. "They have experience in developing the business and seeing how we can reduce costs and improve quality. "There are no plans to shut the doors or cutting jobs, it is more about improving the business." Keep checking your Grimsby Telegraph for updates.
