GRIMSBY Town skipper Craig Disley believes going into the Boxing Day clash with Lincoln City as table-toppers will add extra spice to an already "special" local derby.
Friday's win over Wrexham – combined with postponements elsewhere in the league the following day – means that the Mariners will go into the first of their derby double-header with the Imps sitting top of the Blue Square Bet Premier.
And Disley believes that Town's lofty league position will give the Lincolnshire derbies 'something extra'.
The 31-year-old said: "A lot of the lads have played in derby games in their career and we know this one is special.
"But the fact that it's on Boxing Day and us being top of the league adds something extra.
"We've sold out our allocation of tickets, which is unbelievable, and it's going to be a great occasion.
"Personally, I can't wait for it – I know the lads are looking forward to it and I know the fans are as well.
"Being top at Christmas is a big thing for the fans and a win on Boxing Day would really give our fans some bragging rights."
