CHRISTMAS is the time for generosity to those in need and the Rock Foundation has certainly played its part – handing out 2,000 presents.
The charity has made the donations to needy charities such as YMCA, Harbour Place, Side Door, Care and Grimsby Food Kitchen – as well as children's centres and 250 children from Saint Mary's Catholic Primary School.
And it was a double delight for the little ones, who lit up when they were taken to visit Mr and Mrs Santa Claus at Rock Foundation's base on Wellington Street.
Founder of the charity Pam Hodge, said: "We get the gifts from In Giving who have surplus stock and we distribute it to different people in the deprived areas of Grimsby.
"It has been a success giving out the presents and it's great to see the smiles on children's faces when they receive a gift, because, for some, it may be their only gift this Christmas.
"The children have been so excited about it."
Pupil Joel Foster, 9, said he was over the moon about getting a Christmas present from Santa.
He added: "The main thing I love about Christmas is spending time with my family.
"I feel excited about Christmas day and I have asked for a Lego Batman set.
"At school we have learned about advent and we used our iPads to find out what it was all about."
Another excited pupil was Katy Stewart, 9, who cannot wait to open her present on Christmas day.
"I love decorating my house for Christmas and getting all my presents," she added.
"I have asked Santa for Lego Friends."
