RIDING into the sunset, the figure silhouetted against the lowering sun is on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world... our own!
This stunning image of a lone horserider on the sand at Cleethorpes is the latest winner in the Grimsby Telegraph's hard-fought photography competition.
It was taken by Glyn Fletcher, who lives in the resort, and waited quite some time for the rider to get into place and make his picture perfect.
His persistence paid off, and his image has been made into a canvas print worth £70, thanks to Grimsby Telegraph Camera Club sponsor, Comley Cameras.
Glyn, of Maegan Way, said: "I have been taking photos for the last 40 years.
"For this particular shot I was just walking on the beach and saw it.
"It took me four attempts to get it right but I am really happy with the outcome."
He is a keen photography enthusiast and uses an Olympus E-400.
"I think the trick to getting a good photo is knowing what to look for," he said.
"I try to concentrate on anything that is unusual.
"Reflections and colouring are also important, especially in my photo for obvious reasons.
"I have entered about 50 photos into the competition and it feels great to have won.
"I was going to get this image put on the wall and winning the canvas has done that for me. I am very happy."
Our competition showcases the skills and talents of local photographers.
Each day, we feature the best images in the pages of the Grimsby Telegraph and every month, one image is chosen as a winner.
There are no limits on what you can submit. Whether you have a picturesque local scene, a stunning portrait, your perfect pet, wildlife, flora or even a candid shot taken at a local event, we want you to send us your best snaps.
Staff at Comley Cameras, in St Peter's Avenue, Cleethorpes, judge the photographs and choose which one will be made into a canvas. December's competition will also give entrants the chance to win £100 worth of vouchers to be spent at Comley Cameras as well as the canvas.
Manager Paul Burgess said: "This image makes a great canvas.
"We have seen some dramatic local scenes which have been really great.
"There have been a lot of entries and next month there is £100 worth of vouchers also up for grabs. This time round we will be looking for different pictures. We are looking for good quality lighting and composure in all the images. People need to really catch the judges' attention. We want the picture to lift our winter blues."
