Keen not to meet their Waterloo-ville against Grimsby Town tomorrow at Blundell Park

HAVANT & Waterlooville's players can put themselves in the shop window against Grimsby Town tomorrow.

That's the view of Hawks boss Lee Bradbury, left, who believes some of his younger stars will be keen to impress at Blundell Park.

"A lot of the players want to use Conference North and South teams as a stepping stone into Conference Premier and Football League clubs," he told the Telegraph.

"So it's a great chance for them to play against good opposition and show people that they can play at a higher standard week-in, week-out.

"They did themselves and me proud against Braintree in the last round and it's another big ask for them going up to Grimsby.

"But they're looking forward to it and so am I and my staff."

Former Manchester City frontman Bradbury insists the Mariners will be determined to avoid another replay – and long trip down to the south coast.

"We've watched a couple of DVDs and done our due diligence on them – they look a side that are full of confidence," he added.

"I know Paul Hurst from our A Licence coaching badge course in the summer.

"I know he will have the team well-drilled and they will be a tough nut to crack.

"We're under no illusions that it will be a tough game, whether they play their full side or rest a couple.

"It looked like they rested a few against Buxton in the previous round and ended up get a late winner in the replay.

"They won't want that to happen again and then have to travel down to us in midweek – they'll want to get it done on home turf.

"That's a distraction they don't need being in the hunt for promotion in the league."
